Have you heard of “Ichi-go Ichi-e?”

It’s a beautiful Japanese concept meaning, “One time one meeting.”

Every moment spent with a fellow human being is unique. It won’t come back because it cannot come back – so do something with it. Make it the best moment possible.

We take meetings for granted, but Ichi-go Ichi-e invites us to remember that we should treasure every encounter. After all, this moment is all we have. It may be the last time we ever see this person or group of people.

What a gift it is to be in their presence.

And when you realise this, everything changes!

More respect, more patience, more energy, more empathy, more… You name it, Ichi-go Ichi-e enables it!

I often mention this beautiful concept in my talks and workshops, because I believe it also applies to spending quality time with ourselves; treasuring every time we meet with our Inner Being. And guess what: The same positive results transpire. More empathy, more patience, more appreciation!
