You know… those “strange” days between Christmas and New Year…?

 

Perhaps your world feels a little discombobulated. Perhaps you like to use this liminal time to reflect and prepare.

 

However this week unfolds for you, I’ve created something you might find supportive. 

The Gift of Presence: A gentle way to care for yourself during the tender space between endings and beginnings. 

A way to include yourself in the kindness you so often extend to others. 

This is a 4-session journey, each about 30 minutes, offering a blend of mindfulness practice, gentle teaching, and optional reflection.


It’s a compact, carefully-crafted experience that helps you cultivate skills you can use both in your meditation practice and in everyday life. 

Suitable for newcomers (some familiarity with mindfulness is helpful, but not essential) as well as experienced practitioners.

During a time of year that can be full of activity, expectations, and giving outwardly, The Gift of Presence is an invitation to turn some of that care inward.

About the Sessions

Day 1: Reviewing (23:21)

This session begins with a short introduction to the programme and safeguarding guidance, followed by a 20-minute practice. We look back on the year with kindness and friendly curiosity, allowing ourselves to remember just how much can unfold in twelve months. The practice supports you in grounding through the body, cultivating an open and steady quality of attention, and meeting thoughts and emotions with a gentler perspective as you take in the wider landscape of your year with the care and spaciousness it deserves. Please note: If the past year included a particularly challenging or traumatic experience, it may be best to skip this session and begin with Day 2.

 

Day 2: Pausing (28:57)

A restorative, mindfulness-based practice that reconnects you with the gift of your own presence. This session offers a balance of inclusive, trauma-informed guidance and gentle stretches of silence. We’ll explore the power of purposeful pausing, meeting ourselves with kindness, and resting in stillness (movement is fine, too!) after what may have been a busy season. You’re invited to notice the experience of holding space for yourself, while learning how mindful “anchors” can support steadiness and wakefulness. This session lays a gentle foundation for Days 3 and 4.

 

Day 3: Preparing (30:16)

This session begins with a short talk before moving into a 25-minute meditation. Preparing, in a mindfulness sense, has nothing to do with planning or pushing toward specific outcomes (helpful as those can be in the right context). Instead, we explore how the foundational attitudes of mindfulness help create the inner conditions from which clarity, steadiness, and openness naturally emerge. Preparing becomes an invitation to shape the quality of presence we bring into the next moment or the new year. We look at how these attitudes support both our meditation practice and our everyday lives, allowing the future to be met with more ease.

 

Day 4: Renewing (37:43)

This final session opens with a short introduction before we move into a spacious guided practice, which explores the concepts of impermanence and open awareness as the foundations of renewing. We explore renewing as a process (rather than an end goal) in the natural arising and passing of sounds, our breath, thoughts, bodily sensations, or emotions. From there, the practice widens gently into reflection to explore where renewing might be quietly calling. This is not about resolutions, but about mindfully noticing what feels ready for fresh energy, supported by the attitudes explored on Day 3.
